For more than 48 hours now, the rumours have been circulating. It has been three years since the former Céline designer Phoebe Philo stepped out of the spotlight and down from her role at the label and the fashion world. But if the whispers are to be believed, that might all change very soon.

While some sensed that she might take position at Chanel or Azzedine Alaïa, it was announced that Philo had in fact been interviewing designers around the world to work on an upcoming project, which has been said to be a collection of “eco-responsible essentials,” although she nor anyone else has publicly commented on the news.

If the rumours are to be believed, many of Philo’s fans would be thrilled at the news. The English designer was revered for her sleek, minimal designs while at the helm of Céline in her 10 years, and has even built a loyal fanbase of a “Philophile” community. Before Céline, she worked under Stella McCartney at Chloe, before succeeding at her fashion house for five years and moved into Céline, the role which she has become so famous for.

This is not the first time rumours have gone round regarding Philo’s return to fashion. But if this round of rumours proves to be true, perhaps we could expect something like a second Stella McCartney, another female British designer known for her sustainable-luxury line.
