Hedi Slimane Is Céline’s New Artistic, Creative And Image Director
Hedi Slimane is set to lead Céline and will start his role as the brand’s artistic, creative and image director from 1 February 2018. He will introduce menswear, couture and fragrances to the brand.
The designer succeeds Phoebe Philo, who resigned from her role as the creative director after a 10 year tenure.
Slimane has been credited with adding buzz and excitement to the brands he led – most recently at Yves Saint Laurent where he famously dropped the Yves, and previously with Dior Homme where the designer built up a legion of fans with his rock and roll aesthetic.
His return to the LVMH group already involves nothing less than a warm homecoming. “I am delighted to join Bernard Arnault in this all-embracing and fascinating mission for Céline. I greatly look forward to returning to the exciting world of fashion and the dynamism of the ateliers,” says Slimane.
