Dolce & Gabbana's Latest Accessories Collection Is A Lesson In Sublime Summer Style
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are not exactly known for subtlety, and for Spring/Summer 2020, the designers don’t stray too far from the flamboyance, extravagance, and flair we’ve come to expect (and adore) from the dynamic duo. Termed “The Sicilian Jungle”, the collection wafts through the season like a sultry breeze, replete with safari suiting, scarf dressing, skintight dresses, and naturally, show-stopping tropical and animal prints, from palm fronds and pineapples to musical instruments to giraffe spots and tiger stripes. The jungle, but make it fashion — high fashion.
No jungle-inspired collection would be complete without a few jungle-inspired accessories, and the luxury house unleashes its wild side with a brand new line of leather goods, fittingly named the Jungle (the capital makes all the difference, obviously). A fully bejewelled, three-dimensional buckle in the likeness of a leopard takes centre stage in the series, shaped from gold-plated metal and encrusted with lucent crystals in four different colours. The regal animal adorns the front of a petite crossbody bag in smooth, crocodile embossed, or leopard print calfskin, as well as a vertical tote in soft leather.
But should you prefer something that’s less savage and more summer, there are sublimely stylish options for you too. Dolce & Gabbana gets the beach vibes going with the latest interpretation of its now-classic Devotion bag; echoing the tropical theme of the collection, the design returns this season in braided wicker. Woven wholly by hand in a deft display of the brand’s expert craftsmanship, the handbag comes in wicker or wicker and calfskin variations, all embellished with the signature sacro cuore (or sacred heart) clasp, which is hand-tooled in copper alloy and bedecked with tiny pearls, delicate metallic leaves, and the DG logo.
