Spotted on the steps of The Met: the new cast of Gossip Girl. On Monday morning, the new cast of HBOMax’s Gossip Girl reboot were spotted at the original show’s most iconic location – the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Fans of the hit 2010s TV series will recognize the landmark as a common meeting place for Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and her gang during their Constance Billard school days.

Amongst the cast spotted sporting the iconic Constance and St. Jude’s uniforms were Tavi Gevinson, actors Thomas Doherty, Emily Alyn Lind, Whitney Peak, Jordan Alexander, Zión Moreno, and Adam Chanler-Berat.

Other photos from the film set features the stars dressed for a night out, giving a hint of what we can expect from the wardrobe. In the wake of Blair and Serena, two TV icons who defined teen fashion in the 2010s, these new characters have big shoes to fill. Fortunately, the original costume designer, Eric Daman, is on board for the remake.

This Gossip Girl reboot will not include original stars like Blake and Leighton, but it will still connect to the original story in some way. A part of the script says that eight years after the Gossip Girl website went offline, a new generation of teenagers from private schools in New York is introduced to the blogger's social surveillance. The prestigious series will address how much social media - and the landscape of New York itself - changed in the years that followed.

Screenwriter Joshua Safran also said that this version will be more inclusive than its predecessor. “There was not a lot of representation the first time on the show. I think I was the only gay writer the whole time I was there. Even when I went to a private school in New York in the 90s, the school didn't necessarily reflect what was on Gossip Girl. So this time, the leads are not white. There is a lot of queer content on this show. It is a lot about dealing with the appearance of the world now, where wealth and privileges come from and how you deal with it. What I cannot say is that there is a turnaround, and it all has to do with the turnaround. "

There is no information yet on exactly when in 2021 the new Gossip Girl will debut, but until then, we will be following every update to come.
