Keeping Up With The Kardashians Will End Its Reality TV Reign Next Year
It’s the end of an era. After 14 years, 20 seasons and nearly 300 episodes, the curtain is coming down on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, as the hit reality series ends its long run next year.
“It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” the Kardashian-Jenners announced via social media yesterday. “We are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all these years — through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.”
In the joint statement signed by momager Kris and her extended family of Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Rob, Kendall, Kylie and Scott Disick, they also thanked E!, the production team at Bunim/Murray and Ryan Seacrest, who’s been an executive producer on the show since its very start.
KUWTK premiered in 2007, and has remained a TV stalwart in the years since, spawning 12 spin-off series and numerous successful ventures from cosmetic empires to shapewear to a mobile video game. Not to mention catapulting the KJ clan to international superstardom as some of the most recognisable faces in the history of pop culture. It’s hard to imagine that in the early aughts, the Kardashian name was familiar to few — Kris was known as the ex-wife of O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Kardashian, while Kim’s biggest claim to fame was as Paris Hilton’s sidekick (and a scandal involving a certain tape).
As Kim wrote in her emotional post, “Without Keeping Up with the Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today… This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives.”
Season 19 of KUWTK will begin airing later this month on September 17, followed by the ultimate season in early 2021.
