Iconic 90s Danish rock band, Michael Learns To Rock is coming to Singapore but this time for a special reason. The trio has teamed up with local social service agency, Dementia Singapore, to headline a fundraising concert in support of the local dementia community and to raise money for the cause. And in hopes of fostering a sense of inclusivity, the band will be holding their concert in the heartlands — At Our Tampines Hub's town square on September 9 at 8pm.

The goal is to make the concert more accessible for music lovers including those suffering with dementia as well as their caregivers and nurses. All proceeds of the concert will be donated to Dementia Singapore (formerly known as Alzheimer's Disease Association) to fund and fascilitate their specialised programmes and support services.

While the band has achieved international success, especially in the mid to late 90s, it was in Asia where their popularity reached a fever pitch — Selling millions of records and even winning the 'Best Performing Act of the year' at the 1994 SEA Grammy Awards in Singapore. Best known for timeless pop rock hits like, "Paint My Love", "25 Minutes", and "Sleeping Child", concert go-ers can expect to be hit by a wave of nostalgia as the band will be performing their greatest hits.

This was also a key factor in working with the Danish group. "Nostalgia has proven to be a powerful tool in Dementia Singapore's wide-ranging efforts to engage and support persons living with dementia and their caregivers. It is the sort of music that those in their 40s and 50s are most familiar with. And coincidentally, these are also the age groups in which we are seeing a rise in young onset dementia cases," Dementia Singapore's Chief Executive, Jason Foo explained.

Tickets to MLTR: Live in Singapore are available for purchase now at All Access Asia, SISTIC and BookMyShow Singapore, priced from $68 to $168.
