Level Up Your Quarantine Tea Break With These Easy Cocktail Recipes
What with stress levels running high and stay-at-home orders in place, the beneficial effects of tea have never been more important. If we're not burnt out by the constant flow of (not so nice) news reports, then we're probably overwrought by the pressure of meeting deadlines while adjusting to working from home. So having a few tricks up your sleeve to boost your mental and emotional well-being is now all the more necessary.
One useful tip is to try drinking more tea. Not only does tea make it easy to up your fluid intake, it has been proven to help alleviate feelings of stress and anxiety. But if you're bored of the usual cuppa, why not try an iced tea cocktail? Tea cocktails are the new mocktails, after all, and they are suitable for any time of the day, not just happy hour.
On that note, we've come up with two delicious tea cocktails for you to try at home, so you can literally drink your way to relaxation.
LEMON & GINGER SPECIAL T. COCKTAIL
Good for the body and soul, this refreshing brew is made with green tea, lemon, and ginger.
Ingredients:
1 cup Lemon & Ginger Special.T (or any lemon and ginger tea)
1cm x 1cm piece of ginger
1 teaspoon unrefined cane sugar
½ teaspoon matcha powder
Juice from half a lime
Ice cubes
Getting started:
Make a 200mL cup of tea using the Lemon & Ginger Special T., and let it cool.
Put the ginger, cane sugar, matcha, and lime juice into a shaker. Lightly crush the ingredients to release the flavours, then blend together. Add the cooled tea and a few ice cubes.
Shake well.
Strain the liquid into a glass, and top with a few more ice cubes.
Garnish with a slice of lime.
Drink up!
ANASTASIA TEA COCKTAIL
Inspired by the Grand Duchess of Russia, Anastasia, this tea cocktail delivers a complex yet harmonious aroma of Earl Grey and Assam tea, marked by notes of bergamot, lemon, and orange blossom.
Ingredients:
1 cup of Kusmi Anastasia tea
Juice from 1 orange
10mL of lime juice
1 teaspoon of sugar
Ice cubes
Getting started:
Make a 150mL cup of Kusmi Anastasia tea.
Add the sugar, stir to dissolve, and let cool.
Pour the orange juice and lime juice into a shaker.
Add the cooled tea and a few ice cubes.
Shake well.
Strain the liquid into a glass, and top off with a few more ice cubes.
Garnish with a slice of orange.
