Gucci celebrates the golden age of Hollywood musicals with its latest Spring/Summer 2019 campaign. Spotlighting the joyful and playful spirit of the beginning of the celebrity-culture era, the film is vibrant and energetic with technicolour imagery and of course, all that glitz and glamour.
Shot and directed by Glen Luchford, the campaign takes inspiration from films such as An American in Paris (1951), There’s No Business Like Show Business (1954), and Singin’ in the Rain (1952). It sees talented performers, impersonating famed musical stars from the 40s and 50s, dressed in gowns and long shimmering beads and sequin suits from Gucci’s SS19 collection by Alessandro Michele as they sing and perform synchronised dance routines, reminiscent of the exuberant musical choreography of that time, against colourful sets, grand stages and surreal dream sequence backdrops.
