Ferragamo Reimagines Its Sandals As the New Cage Bag
The iconic Kimo sandals now comes as a bucket bag.
Before being ushered into a new era envisioned by Creative Director Maximillian Davis, Salvatore Ferragamo looks back to the future for its latest bag design.
With the new Ferragamo Cage bag, the Italian house accentuates its shoemaking roots and expertise by translating the Kimo sandal created in 1951 — whose interlacing gold kidskin upper reveals a black kimo sock underneath — into a contemporary bag design.
The Ferragamo Cage bag comes in a bucket structure, hitting the sweet spot between rigid and supple with a cage construction and interchangeable tone-on-tone drawstring pouch.
Punctuated with metallic studs, the woven frame embodies an architectural sensibility that is seamlessly married with Ferragamo’s leather crafting know-how. An inner pouch and a tubular handle come together to lend the design a soft edge.
Those who refuse to settle for just another basic, you can play with colour and print, thanks to a range of pouches offered in different hues and materials — from leather to natural fabric and silk — that are separately available for purchase.
