Longchamp’s Le Pliage needs no introduction. Known and loved for its chic, minimalist and functional design (lightweight, capacious, foldable, accessible, easy to clean, need we say more?), this enduring classic is so popular, 10 totes are reportedly sold every minute worldwide.

The bag’s ubiquity does not preclude its exclusivity, either, as the Maison offers a bespoke service, fittingly called My Pliage, that gives you the freedom to create your own custom version of three styles: Le Pliage, Le Pliage Cuir and Le Pliage Club.

The OG 1993 model becomes My Pliage Signature for Fall 2020, which retains time-honoured codes such as the trapezoidal structure, dual handles and ears, and foldover flap, but with a personal twist. Choose between three silhouettes (shoulder, travel and top-handle), 20 shades for the colourblocked body, five for the Russian leather trim and 15 for the snap closure, among them bilberry purple, coral pink, fir green, gunmetal grey and vermilion.

Better still, Longchamp has reimagined the tote in 100 per cent recycled polyester, an eco-friendly, high-grade textile made from upcycled plastic products, while any specified initials or letters are emblazoned across the front using a water-free transfer printing process. Special, sustainable and stylish all in one.

Following the runaway success of the nylon canvas archetype, Longchamp introduced an even more luxurious take on the emblematic accessory — Le Pliage Cuir in supple Metis leather, with the addition of a removable shoulder strap for versatility.

Combining the qualities of lambskin and goatskin in elegance for the everyday, the Cuir variant now arrives in a selection of five shapes and sizes, 12 colours like chalk beige, peony red and blue mist, and 13 possible finishes for the press stud.

What’s more, you have the option of further customising your handbag via hot-stamping, with some ten different devices such as a hashtag and a palm tree, as well as perforation, with a pick of two motifs (heart or star) and typefaces (Helvetica or Italic).   

Le Pliage Club is the baby of the family (it debuted during Fall 2018), and it certainly brings a dash of youthful vivacity to the table with its ton-sur-ton flap and bright contrast stitching. This season, the My Pliage Club interpretation comes in an expanded range of hues to suit your fancy, whether that’s acid yellow, nordic blue, cactus green or burnt sienna.

Express your individuality with a choice of over 10 tints for the edging, trim and button, in addition to a message of your preference or the quintessentially Parisian Eiffel Tower and galloping horse logo in intricate embroidery. It’s in your hands, literally.
