Bold And Beautiful: L'Officiel Singapore's November 2020 Issue Is Out Now
As the old proverb goes, “Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it”. It’s a simple but sage statement that lays bare an uncomfortable reality behind the continuing controversy surrounding the concept of beauty. Or rather, a lack thereof. The truth is, beauty consists not in a single definition, standard or ideal, but in many — there is beauty in diversity, and diversity in beauty. And with this month’s print edition, L’Officiel Singapore is bringing those multiple facets to the fore, celebrating beauty in its myriad meanings and forms.

“Underpinning our November issue is L’Officiel Singapore’s inaugural Beauty Awards. Adjudicated and approved by our discerning panel of local industry experts, including dermatologist Dr. Teo Wan Lin and singer-songwriter Hashy Yusof-Than, we put forward nearly 100 tried-and-tested (in all senses) products that stood out to us, from skincare to makeup to fragrances,” says Ian Lee, Editor-in-Chief of L’Officiel Singapore.
“We also turn the spotlight on several local and international talents whose charm and charisma are alluringly out of the ordinary, including self-professed goth (and second-time cover star) Hannah Elyse, homegrown runway regular Kaigin Yong, freckle-faced stunner Suzanne la Rivière, rising model Coumba and gamine beauty Liz Wynne with her platinum blonde pixie — they grace the pages of STYLE and MODE in the chicest Fall/Winter 2020 and Cruise 2021 ensembles by Dior, Saint Laurent, Max Mara, Fendi, Prada, Bottega Veneta and the like.”
What more awaits in November’s beauty bonanza? Well, for starters, a bold and beautiful take on adornment with glitter-dusted lips, look-at-me eyeshadow and feather-bedecked brows and lashes. Then, an exploration of the affinity between fashion and visual art, long rooted in aesthetic appreciation, through the medium of renowned illustrator Jaesuk Kim’s Susu Girls (animating Salvatore Ferragamo’s Holiday 2020 series) as well as Louis Vuitton’s latest Artycapucines collaborations. Not to mention an intimate, in-depth conversation with Maria Grazia Chiuri on getting personal for Dior’s Cruise 2021 collection, amplifying female voices and embracing the beauty of individuality through fashion.
