Kristen Stewart, Yara Shahidi, And More Play Juliet In The 2020 Pirelli Calendar

Italian fashion photographer Paolo Roversi has been hard at work creating the 2020 edition of Pirelli's highly anticipated annual calendar. As of this weekend, the world finally has an idea of the creative magic he's been up to: with the latest theme "Looking for Juliet," and it features the likes of Kristen Stewart, Rosalía, and Emma Watson starring as various interpretations of the classic Shakespearean character. While the first behind-the-scenes footage of this 47th edition, shot in Paris and Verona, reveals a diverse and stunning group of nine subjects including Indya Moore and flamenco pop sensation Rosalía, Roversi claims that the process of casting the many facets of Juliet was especially difficult. 

“I am still searching for Juliet and I think I will be searching for her for the rest of my life because, in the end, Juliet is nothing less than a dream,” Roversi said. 

The project, which includes actresses and singers from different cultures and countries, takes inspiration from the intersection of love, power, youth, and beauty that the Shakespearean drama and its heroine so iconically embody. These behind-the-scenes photographs capture Roversi's journey to depict the tragedy and fantasy that comes with the fictional Juliet, a symbol of love boiled over and burned.
