Sorn Spills on Her Waterbomb 2024 Experience, Music Collabs & More
Ahead of her Waterbomb Singapore 2024 performance, we spoke to the Thai singer about music, fashion trends and what's next for the star.
When it comes to summer music events, the Waterbomb music festival is definitely one that is recognised as the epitome of the perfect one. Water guns shooting everywhere, high energy performances and everyone showing off their chicest hot weather looks. It's a summer staple in Seoul, with A-list artists performing every year, the music festival has also flown to other countries with Singapore being the next one. This makes perfect sense as we have summer all year round in these parts and a water themed music festival seems like the ideal way to cool off and make fun memories with friends and loved ones.
With Waterbomb Singapore 2024 right around the corner, we spoke to Thai singer, Sorn, who will be headlining the event amongst a star-studded lineup including CL, BamBam, Jay Park, Jessi and many more. This isn't Sorn's first foray at Waterbomb as she also performed at Waterbomb Dubai 2024 recently, performing to thousands at the big stage. Find out more about her experience there, new music she had brewing up as well as her latest fashion obsessions below!
Hi Sorn! This isn’t your first time performing at Waterbomb, having recently performed at Waterbomb Dubai 2024. Tell us what that experience was like?
The stage in Dubai was amazing! The energy of the audience was spectacular and I felt so energized after the show. I think I felt more inspired by the audience after the performance.
Was it your first time in Dubai? What else did you do there?
It was my first time in Dubai. I had such an amazing time there. I walked 28,000 steps inside the Dubai Mall, visited Burj Khalifa and and took amazing photos of The Palm. I would love to go back to Dubai again soon.
What are some of the things you keep in mind when performing at a water music festival compared to a regular concert performance?
I think it’s always the clothing and the shoes I’m wearing. To make sure I am secure and that no accidents happen, I always have to keep in mind about what I’m wearing. Also the shoes that I’m wearing is also very important to make sure I don’t fall on stage since most of my songs are dance songs.
What’s your favourite Summer fashion trends that you’ll be rocking on stage at Waterbomb Singapore 2024?
I think more of a fashion trend, it has to be this summer hairstyle I’ve been doing recently for most of my public events. I’ve been enjoying my new ‘mermaid hair curls’ looks. I did this hairstyle for my Waterbomb stage in Dubai and everyone really loved it. I would love to bring that curly hair look to the stage but in a different way.
Your latest single, “crazy stupid lovers” is a collaboration with Pentagon’s Hongseok. How did that collaboration come about and did you have him in mind when working on the song?
I was trying to find the right feature for months until one day I got re-connected with Hong Seok. So I thought to myself the best way to enjoy this project is to enjoy it with someone who you have a good relationship with. We’ve been friends for a really long time and I think that that is why this project went a lot smoother than I thought, because of the history we both have!
Are there more collabs on the horizon? What is Sorn working on currently?
I’m actually releasing a new collaboration song with J.Tajor called ‘BAD4US’ on July 26! I’m also really focusing on my EP at the moment, which I will be releasing in the later part of this year.
You held your first solo concert [Sorn: Nirvana Girl] in November last year. What was that experience like and will there be more to come?
It was one of the most memorable nights of my life. I was so happy that so many people showed up to the concert and the amount of love and support for me was amazing! Seeing everyone’s face in person and performing for my fans was such an experience and I hope that I can do the same for all of my fans from all around the world in the future.
