'Squid Game’s Park Hae-soo & Shin Min-A to Star in New Thriller K-Drama ‘Karma’
The new Netflix series Karma will also feature D.P.’s Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo and Gong Seung-yeon.
Netflix will debut a new crime thriller Korean drama soon, set to go into production with a star-studded cast. Starring Park Hae-soo, Shin Min-a, Lee Hee-jun, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo and Gong Seung-yeon, Karma (working title) is based on a Kakao webtoon of the same name.
The story of Karma follows four main characters, who find their lives intertwined with one another as they try to escape the shadow of their ill fates. A witness to an accident, a suffering physician, a man drowning in personal loans and a man whose life gets turned upside down by unfortunate events end up tied together in an intricate web of fate.
Park Hae-soo, whom you might recognise from Netflix’s Squid Game or Chimera, takes a central role in this drama and plays witness to a terrible accident. This incident leads him to make decisions that bring him down a path of no return. Shin Min-a, from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and 3 Days of Vacation, acts as a tortured doctor suffering from her previous traumas when she, one day, encounters a mysterious character from her past. After mistakenly investing all his money in the newly lucrative market of cryptocurrencies, Lee Hee-jun’s character is loaded with debt and finds himself at the mercy of vicious loan sharks.
The other cast members for this upcoming series are also big names in the industry, with D.P.’s Kim Sung-kyun as one of the leading characters – a man who unjustly loses his job at the lowest point of his life. Lee Kwang-soo and Gong Seung-yeon also act as a powerful couple that sees their lives changed when Lee Kwang-soo’s character, a highly successful, well-to-do doctor, is thrown into adversity. With the cast and production confirmed, anticipation is only growing for this gripping Netflix-exclusive drama, which promises audiences a thrilling experience.
