NIKI Struts Down the Streets of New York in Her Latest Music Video
The LA-based Indonesian star gets into the groove for her upcoming studio album “Buzz” with a flirty new single and music video to match.
Long gone are the nights in chilly Malibu because NIKI is strutting down the streets of New York city in the music video of her new lead single “Too Much of a Good Thing”.
The Jakarta-born singer just announced her third studio album “Buzz” coming on August 9th, and she’s starting off the tracklist with a catchy new tune that’s flirty, sardonic, and all-too-honest. “Too Much of a Good Thing” is this fun, tongue-in-cheek song that animatedly gears into the feeling that comes with having a new crush—a playful take on relationships groovily complemented by sinewy bass guitars and a steady, snappy beat.
“Too Much of a Good Thing’ is about that initial anticipation we all know and love where there’s a little extra pep in your step, which I feel translates even sonically, with that timeless, stroll-along-to-the-tempo groove you get when you are momentarily invincible."
Directed by Alexandra Thurmond and shot on 16mm film, the music video’s gritty black and white visuals perfectly captures the distinct energy of New York and tastefully adds this sense of allure to the playful spirit of the song. Sweeping the city streets with slicked-back hair and a leopard print fur coat, NIKI screams confidence personified. Dare we say, we’re entering a new era of NIKI and her new lead single is just the perfect intro to her new sonic universe.
Deemed to be a collection of warm, stirring folk-rock songs, the singer’s third studio album is the culmination of the many versions of herself. Alongside her signature intimate songwriting prowess, NIKI also tapped producers Tyler Chester and Ethan Gruska to help complete the album.
