All The Biggest Celebrity Breakups of 2023 So Far

Model Bella Hadid and art director Marc Kalman confirmed their romance in July 2021, and soon they were spotted on plenty of couples outings. They vacationed together in Paris for Fashion Week and celebrated Gigi Hadid's 27th birthday in April 2022 in New York City.

After about two years, the pair ended their relationship, having broken up a few months earlier in the spring after the relationship was said to have run its course. ET also reported that Hadid has been receiving medical treatment, which is why she has been out of the spotlight. A source said, "Bella is a very nice person, but struggles with the pressures of fame. She has been trying to take care of herself since their split."

In February 2020, fans were surprised to learn of singer Ariana Grande's sweet new relationship with real estate agent Dalton Gomez. After about a year and a half of dating, they married in May 2021. The pair frequently posted cute photos together, but otherwise kept their relationship out of the spotlight.

While at Wimbledon, Grande was spotted without her engagement ring or wedding band, and soon news broke of their divorce. While announced just this month, People says that they actually separated earlier this year and "have been quietly and lovingly working on their friendship."

In other sad news, actors Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello are getting divorced after seven years of marriage. Page Six reported a joint statement from the two, reading, "We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."

Fans noticed that Vergara traveled to Capri with friends and Manganiello wasn't present, with some commenting on Instagram photos that depicted Vergara having a good and carefree time. The couple got married in 2015, and the news was announced this July. 

Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef announced their divorce earlier this month after six years of marriage. A statement they shared read, "We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children." The Puerto Rican superstar and Syrian-Swedish artist first connected on Instagram in 2015 and began dating six months later. They got married in 2018 and now share two kids, daughter, Lucia, and son, Renn. Martin also has two sons, Valentino and Matteo, pictured above.

Billy Porter and Adam Smith broke up in early July after six years of marriage. In a whirlwind romance, the two met in 2009 and began dating for about a year before breaking up. In 2015, they rekindled their relationship and got married only two weeks after their engagement in 2017. 

A rep told Entertainment Weekly that the decision was amicable and "they continue to love and support each other as they embark on this next chapter."

And, in a much shorter-lived relationship, Taylor Swift and Matty Healy are no longer seeing one another after a month of dating in May. What was casual and fun became the stuff of headlines because of controversy surrounding the 1975 frontman. Recently, Swift featured artist Ice Spice on her song, Karma, in Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) after Healy mocked the rapper in a podcast. 

After Swift broke up with Joe Alwyn, Healy was spotted attending many of her shows for The Eras Tour. They also have been seen spending time together at the Electric Lady recording studio. A source confirmed to People that, while they had fun together, the relationship "ran its course."

In another musical relationship, Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford broke up after less than a year of dating in May. The two were first linked in October 2022 and officially announced their relationship in November. Their relationship became big news because of the 10-year age gap as well as their public appearances (I think we all remember them wrapped in Gucci blankets and pajamas in 2022 for their red-carpet debut). 

Eilish also gushed about him in her annual video for Vanity Fair, where she said, "I managed to get my way to a point in my life where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest f---ing f---er alive, but pulled his ass."

The news that shocked the Swiftie community was word that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn had called it quits amidst her Eras Tour. After not showing up to any of her shows, the breakup broke in April after six years together. The two kept their romance largely out of the public eye, but anyone who has listened to her music will note the significant impact the relationship had on her songwriting and life in general. Many songs are about Alwyn, and he even worked on writing a few with her under the pseudonym, William Bowery.

The split is rumored to come largely from differences in personalities, which became worse as Swift re-entered the spotlight after the pandemic. Fans were quick to notice when the superstar switched out her song about soulmates, "Invisible String," with a lament about lost love, "The 1," on the Eras Tour setlist.

The Vampire Diaries couple called off their engagement in July after a little over a year of being fiancés. Graham took to Instagram to share the news, "Hey everyone. After many years together, Darren and I have chose to no longer be together. The engagement ended a few months ago. He's a great guy and we wish each other nothing but the most happy and beautiful life."

Graham didn't actually connect with the Vampire Diaries producer until 2017, and they got engaged in May 2022.

Cher and music executive Alexander Edwards were first linked in November 2022 before things ended in April 2023. After Cher was spotted with a big diamond ring last year, reports circled that the couple was engaged. However, they were just having fun and the news wasn't true. 

Glen Powell and Gigi Paris broke up in April after four years of dating, adding their names to the list of biggest celebrity breakups. People reported that the couple had broken up multiple times in the past and long distance complicated their relationship. Paris was modeling while Powell was filming Anyone But You in Australia, and their work on opposite coasts made it hard to maintain the relationship. So, Paris broke it off when she visited Powell on set.

The news comes after a spiral of rumors that Powell and his costar Sydney Sweeney were romantically involved while filming. Fans also noticed when Paris unfollowed Sweeney on Instagram, fueling gossip. However, the rumors have been debunked and a source from Paris reaffirms that the break-up had nothing to do with Sweeney.

The singer and film producer were first seen together in 2019 at a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game. From there, the relationship progressed and they got matching tattoos together a year later. By 2021, Halsey confirmed her first pregnancy and the couple welcomed a son, Ender. 

Now, Halsey and Aydin have been broken up since April, but People reports that they plan on co-parenting together. 

Just before the couple's 12-year wedding anniversary, actress Reese Witherspoon and talent agent Jim Toth announced their divorce. The couple took to Instagram to share the news in a joint statement in March, writing that they made the "difficult decision to divorce." 

The couple met in 2010 and got married less than a year after meeting. Since then, they share a 10-year-old son, Tennesee James, whom they are committed to co-parenting.

In perhaps the messiest of the biggest celebrity breakups of 2023 is Vanderpump Rules stars Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix. They met on the show when Madix joined the cast in 2013, confirming their relationship a year later. 

However, it recently came out that Sandoval had been cheating on his girlfriend of nine years with a costar from the show, Raquel Leviss. The news broke in March and Madix took to Instagram (which is clearly becoming the preferred platform for any sort of relationship announcement) to say: "To say I have been devasted and broken is an understatement." While Sandoval has confirmed his return to Vanderpump Rules season 11, it is unclear if Leviss or Madix will be joining him.

The singers called off their engagement in February after around two years. Lavigne and Mod Sun were first seen together in February 2021 and soon announced their engagement a year later in March 2022. Now, a year after that the couple has called it quits. 

The two released conflicting statements about the breakup and status of their relationship, with a source of Mod Sun telling ET that Lavigne had told him "they were together and engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour, so if anything has changed that's new to him." On the other hand, the source for Lavigne clarified that "Avril and Mod Sun have broken up and called off their engagement. Things haven't been great between Avril and Mod Sun for quite some time, and after trying to make things work, Avril realized the relationship wasn't right for her." Talk about a lack of communication.

In a bit of a silly miscommunication, Emily Ratajkowski and Eric Andre had actually broken up *before* that NSFW photo Andre posted for Valentine's Day. After being seen together several times at the start of 2023, Andre posted a cheeky picture on Instagram of Ratajkowski taking a nude mirror selfie as Andre posed naked on the couch in-frame. A source, though, told E! News that the model "broke up with Eric days before that photo. She had nothing to do with the posting."

What she did post came from a video she shared on TikTok about a situationship coming to an end in February. A few months prior at the end of 2022, Ratajkowski had been linked to Pete Davidson, clearly going for the funny guys.

It's the couple we love to see on- and off-again. Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott broke up in January. Is this the permanent end of their relationship? A source told US Weekly, "Their friends feel like they're finally done for good." 

The rapper and business mogul have been dating on and off for five years, first in 2017. Their first daughter together, Stormi, was born in 2018. In 2019, it was announced that the couple was taking a break, yet they remained very close. So, the news of their second child, Aire, in 2022 wasn't surprising. Now, it seems like the two are done for good, but with Jenner and Scott, it's always going to be hard to tell.

Our favourite chef is now single, as of June this year. The star of The Bear and actress Addison Timlin are getting divorced after three years of marriage. The two met as teens and even co-starred in a 2008 drama, Afterschool. Now, they share two daughters, 4-year-old Ezer and 2-year-old Dolores. 

On Mother's Day this year, Timlin posted a photo on Instagram calling herself a "single mom." Viewers were quick to point out the misuse of the word, so Timlin edited the caption to say, "co-parent," instead. Allen still seems to have pictures of her on his own Instagram, including a sweet birthday post.
