Jung Hae-in Overwhelmed By Love Received From His First Fan-Meet in Singapore
Our sunny island was the last stop of his first Asia fan-meet tour called The 10th Season, celebrating a decade since the 'DP' star made his acting debut.
While Jung Hae-in portrayed a plethora of characters, ranging from brooding to outgoing and cute, in real-life the South Korean actor is more introverted and in general, a reserved individual. However, Jung showed off a different, more energetic side of himself recently after receiving overwhelming love and energy from fans attending his first fan-meet in Singapore.
The DP star is celebrating 10 years since his acting debut in a big way — by meeting his fans face-to-face in his first Asia fan-meeting tour. Aptly called The 10th Season, Jung kicked off his tour in Seoul in July this year and has made stops at Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta and finally, Singapore during the Halloween weekend. After which, the star will return for a final encore show in Seoul. It's certainly a busy schedule but it was clear that Jung wanted to connect with his fans on a deeper level and give back to them for all their support over the years. Fans were treated to a more personable and vulnerable side of the usually private actor.
And this could be seen in all the considerate, personal touches he made to the fan-meet. Here are some of the highlights below.
Before the fan-meet, Jung held a press conference where he talked about his latest projects including one that is close to his heart, Netflix's DP. On that he said, "So DP is on its second season, and I don’t know yet when it’s going to be, but hopefully we’ll have season 3 soon." However, the real meat of getting to know Jung came from the fan-meet where the Snowdrop star serenaded fans with iconic OST tracks from his shows — Namely DP’s theme song "Crazy", Carla Bruni’s "Stand By Your Man" and South Korean singer Lim Young-woong’s "Grain Of Sand". He capped the night off on a sweet note with Hyolyn's "I Choose To Love You". When asked about how confident he is with regards to singing, "Maybe for the next show I can participate as an OST singer." He chuckled, "I love to sing and when my fans tell me I can sing. It gives me more confidence." Jung also teased that he is planning a concert where he promises he will be singing a lot more.
But his singing voice is not the only surprise Jung had in store for his fans, the actor came prepared with behind-the-scenes photos of his projects, bringing along props from his projects that he personally used to the show as well as gifts for a few lucky fans. From the iconic miltary uniform he used in DP to the baseball cap from Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Jung talked through his memories tied to each prop revealing, "There are some props or outfits that I come across when filming that I get particularly attached to. If they allow, I always try to bring it home with me."
Jung also gave personal insight on his previous works, stating that out of all the characters he's played, he felt most attached to Lim Soo-ho from Snowdrop which was both mentally and physically taxing on him. He revealed that he made a special request to the director of Snowdrop to film his death scene on the last day of filming, making that scene more emotional for him with the finality of it all. "I couldn't stop crying even after the filming was over," he shared, "And the tears are not just because the filming is over but also because I couldn't see the director and staff that I've grown particularly fond of anymore." However, when asked what was his favourite scene he's done, the actor revealed that for him it was actually the last scene of DP Season 2.
The major highlight and one that mattered the most were the fan interactions Jung had with Haeinys. The actor played games with some lucky fans, capped off with warm hugs and a personal selfie with Jung. The host shared that he didn't do this for every region he visited but was so taken aback by how boisterous and loving his Singapore fans were that he wanted to reciprocaste their energy. “You guys are so loud," Jung laughed, "It makes this fan meet feel so intimate. Thank you so much!”.
During the fan letter segment, the star had a quieter heart-to-heart moment with his fans, assuring them that he reads all their letters and keeps them safe before proceeding to highlight two fan letters. The latter got to go up on stage and personally meet Jung. This more sentimental segment got Jung ruminating and when asked what advice he would give young, freshly debut Jung Hae-in, he said, "There will be lots of ups and downs and many highs and lows. But hang in there because eventually you will be loved by lots of people. So, hang in there."
