Exclusive! Baifern Spills Her Skincare Secrets, New Thai Drama & More
The Thai actress, who recently became the face of SK-II's latest campaign shares her insights on beauty and what it means to her.
What a year it has been for Baifern Pimchanok! The 31-year-old Thai actress has been busy as a bee, working on projects in the realm of acting, fashion and beauty. Her global, wide-spread appeal is further cemented when Baifern became a LOEWE ambassador and now the new face of SK-II in a span of just a year.
Exciting things are happening quickly for the beloved star but Baifern is by no means a rookie. Bursting into the scene with the hit romantic film, Crazy Little Thing Called Love back in 2010, Baifern has been consistently working on her craft for over a decade, eventually winning multiple Best Actress awards for multiple roles. Beyond that, Baifern is constantly working with brands, refining her fashion style, starring in magazine covers and campaigns Just like this one with renowned Japanese beauty brand, SK-II.

L'OFFICIEL SINGAPORE spoke to the gorgeous actress while she was in Singapore for the brand's Crystal Clear Skin pop-up feature their best-selling anti-aging duo Facial Treatment Essence and SKINPOWER Advanced Cream.

How has 2024 been for you and what is your perspective on self-care these days?
BAIFERN: 2024 has been a whirlwind of excitement and growth for me. With so many projects and new opportunities available for me, it’s been a busy year. At the same time, I’ve also learned the importance of self-care more than ever. These days, self-care to me is all about finding the right balance – finding moments to rest, nourish my body and take good care of my skin, no matter how hectic life gets. It’s about being kind to yourself and making sure that I’m recharging both physically and mentally.
You recently became the newest face of SK-II. What was the first product that made you first fall in love with the brand and why?
The first product that made me first fall in love with SK-II was the Facial Treatment Essence. I have dry skin and my skin doesn’t cope well under heavy make-up for long hours. I remember trying it for the first time and being amazed at how quickly my skin transformed. After using the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence for over 3 months now, I can feel that my skin health has improved, my complexion has become clearer, and my skin barrier feels stronger.
I use it after cleansing to hydrate and even out my skin tone. I love that it is also very lightweight, which means my skin can quickly absorb all the goodness. The watery and clear texture is also suitable for my skin. I’ve heard that scent in skincare products are typically not good, so I love how the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence has a mild, almost unnoticeable scent.
With your busy schedule and frequent travelling, how do you prevent breakouts and keep your skin healthy and glowing?
Preventing breakouts and maintaining my skin’s health and radiance amidst my busy schedule all comes down to consistency and hydration. No matter how busy I am, I always make time for my skincare routine.
I also always carry my skincare essentials with me, no matter where I am. Cleansing thoroughly is key to removing make-up and impurities after a long day. After cleansing, I lightly pat my skin dry, but leave it slightly moist before applying the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. For my current routine, the one step that I never skip is the Facial Treatment Essence. I also make sure to stay hydrated, get enough sleep and eat a balanced diet. It’s all about taking care of yourself inside and out.
How do you approach nourishing your skin from within? What do you do outside of skincare to ensure glowing skin?
Nourishing my skin from within is just as important as skincare to ensure glowing skin. I focus on having a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and healthy fats to keep my skin radiant. I also try to stay active and get enough sleep, which I feel makes a huge difference in how my skin looks and feels. No matter how busy I get, I try to ensure that I’m getting quality rest.
Hydration is something that I pay close attention to as well. I drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep my skin plump and hydrated. This works even better with hydrating skincare products like SK-II’s Facial Treatment Essence. Lastly, staying positive and managing stress is also a big part of keeping my skin healthy – happiness truly shows on my skin!
You're currently star in a new show, Thong Prakai Saed which plays around the concept of beauty being a double-edge sword. What’s your perspective on beauty?
Thong Prakai Saed has really given me the opportunity to delve deeper into the complexities of beauty, and it has made me reflect on what beauty truly means. It has been a meaningful project because it challenges the conventional notions of beauty and encourages us to see beyond the surface. It’s about understanding that beauty is multi-faceted – about how you look, how you feel and how you connect with the people around you.
For me, real beauty is all about being confident and comfortable in your own skin. It’s about embracing my own unique features and taking care of myself. When I feel good on the inside, it also shows on the outside. As an artiste, real beauty to me is also about taking good care of my skin, having crystal clear skin and showing the best side of myself to my fans.
Additionally, what made you pick this project and how was the filming process?
I was drawn to this project because of its unique storyline and the depth of the characters. I have played a lot of different characters before but Thongdee is unique and is very challenging. The concept of exploring beauty in a different light intrigued me and I felt that it was a story worth telling. The story reflects a journey of a women following her dreams to become accomplished and famous despite not having a good family background. The plot follows through Thongdee’s growth journey in the show as she meets different people to build a better life for herself. The filming process was intense but incredibly rewarding. I also had a great time working with the cast on set. We put so much into every scene, and I’m proud of how it all came together.
What was your personal favourite beauty look from the show?
One of my favourite look, which I have also recently shared on Instagram, is Thongdee in a casual t-shirt and shorts. It is different from the glamourous looks I usually wear for events and other shoots but I feel that it is fitting for the character. Thongdee’s casual look also doesn’t require a lot of makeup, which allows me to show off my natural skin.
What else does Baifern have up her sleeve for the near future?
I am currently filming for ‘Thicha’, it’s a romantic drama thriller series centered around the concept of justice and equality. The storyline of this is very intense so stay tuned for more information. There’s so much to look forward to, and I can’t wait to share these new experiences and projects with my fans.
