Inside L'Officiel Singapore's Spa Awards 2022
Presenting our inaugural Spa Awards, where we recognise the best spas, facial and aesthetic clinics, salons, and beauty services in Singapore.
What makes a good spa? For us, it is the combination of four important aspects: Experienced doctors and therapists, result-driven treatments, exceptional customer service, and clean facilities. We’ve decided to conduct our first Spa Awards to sift through the many spas, clinics, salons, and beauty services in Singapore to determine the industry’s cream of the crop.
We’ve enlisted the help of external judges — spa and wellness expert Melinda Yon, entrepreneur and beauty guru Wirda Elliesa, and national Brazilian Jiujitsu athlete Constance Lien. They, along with L’Officiel Singapore’s editorial team, determine what beauty services work best for you.
Meet the Judges
L'Officiel Singapore Team
Ian Lee
Editor in Chief
“There’s no better pick-me-up than a good deep tissue massage. For me, it’s less about feeling relaxed while on the spa bed, and more about feeling relaxed post-treatment and having a good night’s sleep.”
Gregory Woo
Associate Fashion Editor
“With the amount of research that goes into each aesthetic treatment, efficacy should be the table stake. What I tend to look out for instead is how much each place considered holistic wellness and how my body feels two to three days later, after the immediate glow has subsided.”
Melissa Mae
Digital and Beauty Writer
“Self-care is the most important thing for the sake of yourself and your sanity, which is why a good pampering session every once in a while is necessary to destress and unwind. In my case, that comes in the form of signature massages and hydrating facials.”
Industry Experts and Beauty Gurus
Melinda Yon
Renowned in the spa and wellness industry, Melinda Yon began her journey in the field 30 years ago in Australia, following a desire to attain and maintain a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle. Now with 15 years of experience under her belt, Yon works as a corporate trainer and facilitator in spa management and hospitality, training the next generation of spa professionals joining the industry.
Wirda Elliesa
Just 26 years young, beauty guru Wirda Elliesa has already made a name for herself as a content creator and an entrepreneur. She currently operates an e-commerce business where she designs and sells her own collection of kebaya. Her advice to L’Officiel Singapore’s readers when it comes to skincare? Investing in your skin as it’s never too early to start ageing gracefully.
Constance Lien
Mental health advocate Constance Lien holds an impressive resume as a former swimmer for Singapore and our current national athlete for Brazilian Jiujitsu; she is the first woman from Singapore to win World Champion (in 2019), and she is also a Southeast Asian Games Gold Medallist. For our Spa Awards, we sent the athlete to trial the many beauty services Singapore had to offer. “What I really appreciate most is learning and communicating with the staff and doctors helping me with the treatments,” she says, emphasising the importance of customer service in making a spa truly great.
