Basel, Switzerland
Art Basel, Switzerland (June 13-18)
Art Basel has now made its way around the world to the U.S., China, and France, but it was originally founded in Switzerland by Ernst Beyeler, a Swiss art dealer and collector. According to The New York Times, he was "Europe's pre-eminent dealer in modern art", so it is clear why Art Basel is so widely respected. With over 200 galleries and more than 4,000 artists featured, the art fair is the ideal place to explore the history of art and meet a variety of creatives.
