RIMOWA Teams Up With Artist Daniel Arsham For An Artful Makeover
In conjunction with Daniel Arsham, the special edition RIMOWA Pilot Case is readapted with vintage-style sticker graphics and sculptural turn tables as a characterisation of time.
The first RIMOWA x Daniel Arsham collaboration was first sighted in 2019. The alliance presented an eroded suitcase that gave the impression of an extracted art piece from an archaeological dig. Following the success of their first partnership, the pair have returned with yet another memorable collector’s piece. Intrigued by the structure and heritage of the storied Pilot Case, the reissue of the travel piece has been further elevated with Arsham’s interdisciplinary touch.

In an artistic endeavour that dabbles in the concept of future history and fictional archaeology, Arsham’s famed Future Relic art series casts everyday objects into contemporary fossiled versions. Having acknowledged the grooved aluminium case as the staple choice for musicians and DJs to transport their equipment, Arsham adopts a similar approach, presenting an eroded turntable cushioned inside the Pilot Case as an archival piece. Made from plaster and crushed glass, the turntable was reimagined with the idea of a future dystopia as a passage of time.
As the quintessential statement for the aviation industry for the way it fits perfectly within the cockpit, the revolutionary aluminium exterior has been treated with aluminium anodizing for a lasting metallic sheen. Applying an exclusive shade of Arsham Pantone Green, vintage-style RIMOWA and Arsham logos illuminate the case subtly implying the uncovering of the storied piece from the past. Embodying the same functionalities, the all-in-one case is pioneered with a Multiwheel system and stage-free telescopic handle, with several compartments to fit your daily necessities.
From 7 October onwards, the limited edition RIMOWA x Daniel Arsham Eroded Turntable in Pilot Case in Black ($5,720) will be sold on the Archive Editions WeChat MiniProgram (Archive Editions) and at all RIMOWA stores across Asia, including at the Mandarin Gallery boutique in Singapore.
