Old Flame: The New Candles From Louis Vuitton
If you’ve always wanted to travel to France, but can’t seem to find the time (or the resources) to go, then the latest scented candles from Louis Vuitton are just the thing for you. Of course, there’s nothing quite like actually being there, but these two candles almost make up for it. Imbued with the spirit of travel that has inspired the house from the very outset, Écorce Rousse and En Mai blur the line between here and elsewhere, evoking the dreamy idyll of a Gallic escape.
The two new scents join the existing six members of the Louis Vuitton scented candle family, all composed by master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Bertrud. Écorce Rousse is a powerful fragrance that draws on the maison’s historic atelier in Asnières, where trunks and leather goods desired the world over are produced to this day. Suave notes of suede unfurl over dry cedar, softened with a hint of vanilla, alluding to the distinctive combination of leather and wood that is the fruit of fine craftsmanship.
Capturing the lush green countryside in the height of spring, En Mai is a delicate sylvan fragrance. Grassy galbanum is blended with tangy blackcurrant, with a heart of sweet peach and apricot seed essence. Playful and buoyant, the scent is an invitation to fully savour the present moment. Both candles are housed in sleek white ceramic vessels with hand-stitched leather handles, designed by Marc Newson. So light the wick, close your eyes, and prepare for take-off.
The new Louis Vuitton scented candles will be availble from 30 October onwards the Louis Vuitton boutiques in Marina Bay Sands, Ngee Ann City, ION Orchard, and Changi Airport Terminal 3, as well as online at louisvuitton.com
