Dolce & Gabbana Team Up with Smeg For An Incredible New Partnership
Sicily has long been at the centre of inspiration for Dolce & Gabbana. Indeed, co-founder Domenico Dolce grew up on the southern Mediterranean isle, and as a result, Sicilian influences can be seen throughout D&G’s work from perfumes to bag designs.
Most recently however, the label has partnered with Italian home appliance brand Smeg for a collection inspired by Sicilian culture, and in particular, the Sicilian cart, which is at the heart of the island’s history and culture.
“The cart was a means of transport that combined functionality while also telling stories and tales, serving as a kind of wandering picture book that variously depicted historical, literary, religious, or chivalrous events,” explains the fashion house.
“Just as behind every garment are hidden the secrets of an ancient craft that creates uniqueness with expert hands, so does every appliance have its own story of industrial excellence and know-how, a tireless passion for the art of cooking, and meticulous attention to every detail,” shared a D&G spokesperson.
As such, the new “Made in Italy” collection includes functionality, with story-telling and the aesthetic Italian beauty that D&G is well known for.
