Kim Jones has been announced as the guest curator for the Issue 19 of A Magazine Curated By. An unmatched magazine concept that explores the universe of a different fashion designer, invited as the “guest curator”. Each issue celebrates the guest curator's ethos: their people, their passion, their stories, emotions, fascinations, spontaneity and authenticity. Working in collaboration with the editorial team, the guest curator develops personalized content to express their own aesthetic and cultural values.
In this issue, Kim Jones' curative spread takes the form of the 26-letter "alphabet", using each letter to introduce his eclectic circle of friends and collaborators. All while exploring his worldly passions, with subjects ranging from ‘A’ for Naomi Campbell’s ‘Africa’ through ‘P’ for ‘Punk’, working his way down to ‘Z’ for Amanda Lear’s ‘Zero’. Each letter is followed by an adjoining subject matter, ranging from essays and archive image portfolios to interviews, illustrations, poetry, postcards, still-life photography, music playlists and portraiture.
His 'alphabet' spread features a variation of works from the likes of contemporary artists such as Takashi Murakami and Peter Doig, as well as KAWS, Hajime Sorayama and Raymond Pettibon, with whom Kim has collaborated with for his last Dior men’s collection. Close friends and famous heroes unite in this tapestry of anthropological and geographical references that reveal the many eccentrically brilliant facets of Jones’ curious mind.
