The Niche Showcase: Glimpse The Work Of Thailand's Best Jewellery Artisans
Held from 10 to 14 September 2019, The Niche Showcase is set to be the highlight of the 64th Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair. Targetted at the niche jewellery market, this showcase features internationally-acclaimed Thai jewellery brands, shedding light on the latest jewellery trends, and presenting a stellar selection of pieces that show off impeccable, traditional Thai jewellery craftsmanship skills that have been passed down through the generations.
The five themed trends for the exhibition include the “High Jewelry”, “Luxe Men”-jewellery creations for modern men, “Spiritual Power”-jewellery made with the theme of spirituality in mind, “Beyond Jewelry”-featuring precious lifestyle and home accessories, and “Heritage & Craftsmanship”.
“...for this edition, The Niche Showcase, which is one of the fair’s highlights, aims to create awareness in the Thai gems and jewellery industry about the importance of niche markets which have been continuously growing in recent years. The showcase is divided into two zones, which are ‘The Inspiration’ presenting innovative ideas, and ‘The Showcase’ featuring highlighted products selected from 30 jewellery entrepreneurs under the concept of 5 trends for niche markets. I strongly believe that this exhibition will inspire the audience and will help to make the ability and potential of Thai brands and craftspeople to be recognized and acknowledged at an international level." says Ms. Banjongjitt Angsusingh, Director General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce.
Some of the creators showcased in the exhibition include Vara jewellery, whose pieces feature a combination wood and silver, Naruemon Thonjai's silver flower garland 'malai', which was selected as the official souvenir for the ASEAN Summit, Jee's Jewellery's Thai Yantra tattoo-inspired collection and Beauty Gem's magnificent Suphannahong Royal Barge model-made from a total of 400 carats of sapphires, rubies, topazes, diamonds and other precious stones.
One highlight of this edition is the “Keto” collection created by Lotus Arts de Vivre and design brand Half Caste Creations. These pieces will be exhibited alongside the “Keto” motorbike- a one-of-a-kind motorbike made with integrated jewellery-making techniques.
“Thailand has become one of the leading countries of value creation for the global gems and jewellery industry, boasting a number of internatonally renowned jewellery brands, as well as artisans and designers. Thanks to these strengths, Thailand will be able to become one of the world’s leading gems and jewellery hubs.”
