A love letter to the forms found in nature, Cartier’s newest lineup is a high jewellery collector’s dream. We look into styling the six exquisite necklaces.
Cartier’s latest High Jewellery collection ‘Beautés du Monde’, of rings, necklaces and sets, is a celebration of nature – a show of both admiration and enhancement of design from the natural world. If you’re looking for new pieces to add to your repertoire of high jewellery, look no further than the maison’s newest collection.
Discover how to style the necklaces from Beautés du Monde below.
The necklaces in this collection are a parade of colours, playing with Cartier’s menagerie of animals and plants. Each piece makes a statement of its own, dazzling and assertive all at once.
One Colour Fits All
The Water Aspis Necklace, with white gold, sapphires, lapis lazuli and diamonds, is the converging of the maison’s exploration of realism, stylisation and abstractionism. The joints of the necklace are fully mobile, mimicking the movement of the hypnotic snake. Abstraction is once again delved into with the Iwana Necklace featuring platinum, emeralds and diamonds. Grounded by the appearance of the green iguana, the four-sided cut of the diamonds on the neck piece imitates the reptile’s dorsal spines.
For a monochromatic look, the Water Aspis and Iwana can be worn with sleek, elegant dresses. Laying them against a solid colour will allow the sapphires’ blue and emeralds’ green respectively to contrast even more. With a sweetheart or v-shaped neckline, all eyes will surely be on the intricate jewellery.
Get in Formation
Shape and form are given a dramatic reboot with the Nouchali and Apatura Necklaces. The Nouchali necklace, inspired by the water lily, is made with white gold, rubellites, chalcedonies, black lacquer and diamonds. The centre flower is planted on a long necklace of lilac chalcedony beads, creating a gentle drop shape. The petals of the flower come to life, with the “Trembling” setting, animating movement into the delicate piece.
An abstract interpretation of a butterfly’s wings culminates in the Apatura Necklace. The magnetic beauty of wings is introduced through platinum, opals, coloured sapphires, sapphires and diamonds. The graphic lines on the necklace are a play on the distinct look of butterflies.
Unique expressions of art are recreated through the Nouchali and Apatura – ideal for tops with plunging necklines. Make full use of the length to draw attention to the intricacy of the pieces. The pendant on the bottom of Apatura can even be detached to be worn as a brooch, for added sparkle.
On the Bright Side
If you desire even more vibrancy, the Recif and Rituel Necklaces’ eye-catching shades will tickle your fancy. The Recif celebrates the energy of the coral reefs, a meeting point of life for flora and fauna. Platinum, emeralds, coral, amethysts and diamonds produce a snaking dimension of contrast for this orb-decorated piece. The striking visual tension between the emerald green and coral orange is emblematic of Cartier.
In tribute to Mesoamerican jewellery, the Rituel Necklace boasts a double row of azure chalcedony beads, in contrast with a constellation of rubies. The array of rubies is held up by an invisible setting, augmenting the magical factor of the necklace. The pairing of pink and blue is bold, a dynamic signature of the maison.
The pairs of contrasting colours on the Recif and Rituel call for jewel-toned garments. Sharp blazers will accentuate the daring colours of the necklaces in a perfect balance. For a more classic look, a crisp white or black top can bring out the vivid complementary colours of the intricate necklaces even more.
