Red carpet style guide: Billie Eilish, Lily Collins show off their favourite Cartier looks
As peak party season approaches, we round up five of our favourite celebrity watch and jewellery looks from this year's glitziest events, all from French jeweller Cartier.
Meghan Markle's uncomplicated wrist candy
Here's a one-size-fits-all style tip from Meghan Markle: Dress up a bare wrist with a chic bracelet or watch to tie the rest of your outfit together — and don't be afraid to stack them either. The Duchess of Sussex did just that at the recent Salute to Freedom Gala in New York, where she paired a gold Cartier Love bracelet with Princess Diana's own diamond tennis bracelet, also from Cartier; Markle wore the same look to her famous interview with Oprah earlier this year.
Markle seems to be rather fond of the trend, appearing on this year's Time 100 issue with a similarly pared-back suite of jewellery. Aside from her engagement ring and a piece from a philanthropic jeweller (50 percent of profits from her pinky ring went toward funding female-led start-ups), Markle also appeared wearing Princess Diana's gold Cartier Tank Française.
Of her love for the famous watch, Markle said: "When I found out 'Suits' had been picked up for our third season — which, at the time, felt like such a milestone — I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version... I've always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch."
Billie Eilish's edgy finger rings
For the times when you're feeling particularly rebellious, look to Billie Eilish's Met Gala outfit for inspiration. Of course, as the singer demonstrates, a rebellious look doesn't equate to a slovenly one.
She wore a slew of Cartier rings — including the stunning Art Deco-inspired Reflection de Cartier high jewellery ring — stacked across her manicured fingers to give the impression of a sinuous layer of armour. Eilish opted for slimmer, more subtle rings like Étincelle de Cartier for her knuckles to create a more fluid look.
Business casual doesn't mean boring. Keep your look cohesive, like Angelina Jolie at the London premiere of Eternals, and be sure to pick one piece as a standout. For Jolie, she opted for a timeless suite of 18k yellow gold jewellery from Cartier to accompany her classic tux dress: Jolie wore a pair of Love earrings, a spherical Goldmaster de Cartier ring, and finished it off with a wonderfully structural Panthère de Cartier watch.
A bold look calls for equally bold accessories, as Lily Collins shows. Her striking yellow outfit at the 15th Annual Go Campaign Gala was matched by some very playful pieces from Cartier's Clash [Un]limited collection, including one that looks like a spiky bejewelled football, and another between-the-finger ring capped with a bold onyx top.
