Get Moonstruck with Panerai's New Luminor Due Luna
The Panerai Luminor Due Luna marks the introduction of the first complication in the Luminor Due collection, the romantic moonphase that is a beguiling sight to behold.
Launched in 2016 as part of a contemporary evolution of Panerai’s Luminor collection, the Luminor Due is characterised by its distinctive cushion case and elegant, elevated silhouette, which harks back to the classic Luminor from the 1950s. Though it debuted as a time-only model, the Luminor Due now undergoes a major update with the introduction of the collection’s first complication — the moonphase — with this new reference expected to become a key design among the Luminor Due timepieces.
The hallmark of the Luminor Due Luna, which is named after the Italian word for “moon”, the moonphase depicts a 24K gold orb traversing a speckled midnight blue sky, and it looks right at home on the dial situated at 3 o’clock, directly across from the small seconds. Underneath, the automatic movement runs on the P.900/MP calibre, which drives the 38-mm timepiece with a three-day power reserve. The iconic Safety Lock crown protection device, a signature of the Luminor timepieces, is a notable feature.
Four iterations of the Luminor Due Luna ensure that the range complements almost any ensemble and occasion. With a mother-of-pearl dial and a red- toned case made of the platinum–copper alloy Panerai Goldtech, the Madreperla makes its presence felt, while its white Super-LumiNova numerals, hands and indices lend themselves to subtle timetelling. An open caseback and a polished blue alligator strap complete the look (PAM01181). Next are two iterations with polished steel cases, white sun-brushed dials, and beige Super-LumiNova numerals, indices and hands, accentuated with a polished dark pink alligator strap (PAM01180) or the Luminor Due steel bracelet (PAM01301). And rounding up the quartet is the monochrome iteration featuring a mesmerising sun-brushed blue dial housed in a steel case, supported by a polished blue alligator strap (PAM01179).
Offering even more versatility, the Luminor Due Luna’s alligator straps can easily be swapped out via the quick release system, which does away with the use of tools. Strap material options include sumptuous satin, and leather with a satin-like texture and appearance.
