Breguet Unveils Reine de Naples with Black Grand Feu Enamel Dial
The iconic Reine de Naples 8918 receives a spectacular refresh.
One of the extraordinary forms of métiers d’art seen in watches, grand feu enamelling appears in the new references of the Reine de Naples 8918, the manufacture’s first Reine de Naples model with a black grand feu enamel dial. The elegant timepiece runs on the automatic calibre 537/3, with a power reserve of 45 hours, and is accentuated by 118 diamonds, totalling about 0.94ct, on the bezel, flange and crown, plus a pear-cut diamond at 6 o’clock. Swirling Breguet Arabic numerals add a touch of theatrical flair, while Breguet hands sweep across the off-centre dial.
Another new model is the Reine de Naples 8918 in white mother-of-pearl and guilloché, accented with red — in the Breguet numerals; the 136 rubies set in the bezel, flange and crown, totalling approximately 1.34ct; and the pear-cut ruby at 6 o’clock.
The Reine de Naples collection is inspired by the first wristwatch, a creation that Abraham-Louis Breguet presented in 1812 to Caroline Bonaparte, sister of Napoleon I and queen consort of Naples from 1808 to 1815.
