The Halloween season brings with it some of the most excessively dark looks of the year. Prada’s Fall 2019 collection, which premiered this past February, offered a slew of perfectly haunting pieces. The muse of the collection? The one, the only, Wednesday Addams.
Confirmed by designer Miuccia Prada, Wednesday Addams was the inspiration behind the spooky styles. The eldest daughter of Morticia and Gomez on the fictional 1964 TV show The Addams Family, Wednesday is a style icon, with her double braids, black dress, and strange-but-sweet attitude. Bringing in elements of her classic look, the collection showed that her aesthetic hasn’t lost its striking appeal, even across generations.
Described as “Frankensteinish”, the collection brought everything your closet needs for the Halloween season, and plenty of synthetic neon fur. At its core, the collection oozes Halloween energy. Several of the pieces even featured Frankenstein’s cartoonish face, printed on long-sleeved black dresses and midi skirts. Alongside Prada’s realised visions were even more eye-catching details, down to the Wednesday-like braids that many of the models wore as they walked down the runway.
