Versace, Giorgio Armani, And Bulgari Donate Millions Of Dollars To Fight The Coronavirus
The coronavirus outbreak shows no signs of stopping, with the daily lives of people living in major cities all around the world affected. People are stocking up on food, the economy is in crisis, and most recently, it was announced that the Northern part of Italy, including Milan and Venice, are on lockdown in bids to contain the spread of COVID-19, following a dramatic increase in cases.
At times like this, we’re grateful for displays of solidarity. Major fashion houses, including Giorgia Armani, Versace and Bvlgari have come together to donate millions of dollars to various institutions fighting the coronavirus.
Giorgio Armani has made a donation of 1.25 million euros to several hospitals in order to combat the crisis. Amongst the names that have received the funds are Hospital Luigi Sacco, San Raffaele Hospital, Istituto dei Tumori in Milan and Istituto Lazzaro Spallanzani in Rome.
Italian brand Versace donated $ 143,000 to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation, the same institution supported by LVMH, which donated $ 2.3 million.
Kering made a large donation to the Hubei Red Cross Foundation, in the amount of US $ 1.08 million.
Bvlgari also made a donation, choosing the Istituto Lazzaro Spallanzani in Rome to receive its funds, while Dolce & Gabbana elected the research groups at Humanitas University and San Raffaele Hospital to receive their help.
The coronavirus may have cast a dark light over the world, but we are also witnessing many good things about humanity: our ability to support and care for each other. Hopefully, this only comes as a start to build a more inclusive and sustainable world.
