Inside Bottega Veneta’s "Domestic Glam" Wardrobe 02 Collection
Bottega Veneta's latest collection all about domesticated glamour. That translates through forgiving silhouettes, pleasurable colour combinations and minimal clean-cut lines. Designed by Daniel Lee, Wardrobe 02 balances minimalism and maximalism: Think rigid silhouettes and sophisticated suits juxtaposed with bold, dynamic dresses. In all, it gives feathers and sparkles, giving the collection a joyful charisma that projects comfort and glamour at the same time.
Exploring the relationship between subtle comfort and exaggeration, while balancing between genders, both the female and male wardrobes complement each other. They share similar silhouettes, volumes and materials that span from cosy teddy material, alpaca yarn and argyle jacquard cotton to tailored technical nylon, crystal punctured suede, and of course, Bottega Veneta’s signature touch of leather.
The accessories in the Wardrobe 02 collection include the Puddle Boots version 2.0, a new iteration of the shoe from Fall 20. A Paddington bear remix, these playful, biodegradable and gender-defying boots look like playthings. They're also available in funky colours like grass, flamingo, egg yolk and cobalt.
The Wardrobe 02 campaign also features notable figures, like American director Melina Matsoukas, principal dancer of American Ballet Theater in New York Roberto Bolle, rapper Little Simz, contemporary British artist Mark Leckey, musician Kenzie, jazz musician Nubya Garcia, rapper Skepta, artist Sue Webster, English rapper Slowthai, and musician Tricky — among others.
Dropping alongside the Wardrobe 02 campaign is Bottega Veneta’s digital journal issue 02. It features Naomi Campbell and Travis Scott –– amongst the many creatives around the world showcasing their work. The digital journal is all part of Daniel Lee’s approach to the brand’s new digital frontier. Expect a myriad of spectacular still lifes and video montages, as well as incredible nail art by Carlijn Jacob and a conceptualised portrait series of Naomi Campbell by David LaChapelle.
