Since launching in 2015, Sarah Staudinger and partner George Augusto’s STAUD has become a favorite of fashion cool girls like Alexa Chung, Dakota Johnson, and Leandra Medine. When creating her brand, LA-based designer Sarah Staudinger, previously at Reformation, wanted to fill a gap she found in the garment industry. STAUD’s gained quite the following for their colorful and elegant pieces, which do not sacrifice quality despite their accessible price-point.

For their Fall 2019 runway show—the second for the brand—STAUD opted for a fun, flirty and lively approach. Before the models even walked out, the set was was a glittery display of streamers reminiscent of a high school dance. As the lights went down, Andrea True’s 1976 disco bop More, More, More rang through the room, and the first model shimmied out in a plaid trenchcoat dress, setting the tone for a show that would have seventies vibes galore—sachays included.

STAUD’s accessories game got a funky update, with models swinging crescent-shape shoulder bags as they boogied about, while others sported shearling-adorned evening clutches. As for footwear, the brand debuted its own line of shoes this season. They presented their own snakeskin spin on this season’s statement boot and —and boy did the models prove they were made for walking. Other sensible footwear options? The green stilettos that looked far too beautiful to be comfortable. Still, the models seemed like they were two-stepping on air.

In an interview, Staudinger said that it was a really important collection for her because fashion “is not just about the way clothes make you feel, but the way people move in the clothes…It’s all about real people living…their best lives.” We don’t know about you, but STAUD’s flowy ankle-length dresses and sequin two pieces are exactly what we see ourselves living our best lives in.
