Sculptural Heels: 2019's Shoe Trend Is A Wearable Work Of Art

Whether you like it geometric or artsy, put your best foot forward with these statement heels.

This unique sculptural heel trend started some time ago, but it definitely shows no signs of slowing down. Jacquemus first introduced his interpretation of sculptural heels in his fall ready-to-wear collection in 2017, since then, more high-street and luxury brands have been offering their own takes on these shoes.

Leading the charge for fall’s hottest look is Loewe’s leather ankle boots with chunky, wooden sculptured heels inspired by the foot of a wooden chair. For the sophisticated ones who prefer something more unique and playful, Jacquemus presents the best in footwear architecture with the strappy square-toed heels, which looks deceptively normal from the front, but boasts mismatched heels- a straight blue stiletto heel and the other resembling a candelabra of sorts.

JW Anderson Suede-trimmed logo-embroidered canvas pumps combine the two biggest trends, logomania and sculptural heels, perfectly. Keeping the shoes secure with soft suede wraps and heels made out of gold cylinders, the pumps create a stark contrast to the suede body bearing with the label’s logo in white. Also, Givenchy’s minimalist leather sandals with sculptural gold heels is an absolute beauty, with the shape of the heel taking the form of one of the four ‘G’ emblems from the house's logo.

Apart from the high-fashion houses, smaller designers and fast-fashion brands have also taken a cue from the shoe trend, presenting designs that are just as chic. Spanish luxury brand Manolo Blahnik goes back to basics with a pair of black and white strap heels with geometric, polished block heels and  Aquazzura’s So Anissa leather sandals packs on the height- with heels made of stacked gold hoops and a single pearl nestled in each one.

Zara and Bershka have also delved into the trend with their very own pieces featuring the sphere. Zara’s leather spherical heel in red is a stylish addition for your summer’s wardrobe, especially with the wooden heel. While Bershka combined both crochet detail and wooden sculptural heels together for this pair of white mules, that is a comfortable height for day-to-day wear.
