Anthony Vaccarello’s confident Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2019 collection is probably his most accomplished and most spectacular one to date.

For FW19, the Belgian designer reinterpreted the brand’s most emblematic silhouettes, in particular the strong tailoring that also focused on the shoulders, from Yves Saint Laurent’s “Scandal” collection of 1971 and “Opium” moment.

“Everything starts from the shoulder construction. The graphic sculptural tailoring gives a sharp sophistication to the liberated impulse of desire” - Anthony Vaccarello

In the heart of the fountains of Trocadero, in a box mirror night club, the designer unveiled a collection true to the Saint Laurent spirit with ultra-exaggerated shoulders, ultra-short shorts (a reflection of Vaccarello's sexy touch), disco-style rhinestone hats, micro-mini party girl dresses with incredible volume, and most importantly, a breath-taking fluorescent finish.

Then came the finale. Just when everyone thought the show was over, lights went out giving way to nightclub neons and a flurry of models walking through a mirrored kaleidoscopic set dressed in glow-in-the-dark looks, including maxi fur coats and colourful feathers, highlighted by a black light unveiling the contemporary, effortless aspect of Saint Laurent’s soul.
