Prada X Adidas: A First Look At The New Drop
Just a few weeks after the official announcement of their partnership, Prada and Adidas have now unveiled the maiden products of their collaboration. Namely, subtle all-white reinterpretations of the athletic brand’s Superstar sneakers and the fashion house’s Bowling bag that merge high performance with haute fashion.
One of the most emblematic designs of Adidas, the Superstar sneakers were first released in 1969 as a basketball shoe, but quickly made the leap from sports to style, made popular by hip-hop legends of the ‘80s like Run-D.M.C and the Beastie Boys. The new version from the collaboration leaves the original design virtually untouched, with its streamlined shape, rubber shell toe, serrated triple stripes, and herringbone-pattern cupsole. The difference lies in the details: the sneakers will be produced in Prada’s factory in Italy using premium full-grain leather. The upper tongue and inner sole of each is stamped with the twinned logos of the two labels, while the medial side is debossed with the shoe’s serial number and the lateral with the Italian house’s brand lettering.
Accompanying the sneakers is a fresh take on Prada’s Bowling bag, which fuses its classic silhouette with the utility of a gym bag. Executed in superior calf leather with a nylon strap, the bag has a roomy interior and flat base, and features the collaboration logo on the chassis. Both accessories are hued in optic white with black detailing, and will be offered in a limited edition run of 700 pieces.
With sports as the linchpin of their partnership, the two brands will also launch a line of performance sailing footwear next year, called Luna Rossa in reference to Prada’s sailing team.
The Prada x Adidas sneakers and bag will be available at selected Prada boutiques and online at adidas.com and prada.com from 4 December onwards
