Pop Art-Filled Bags Have Arrived in the Coach x Tom Wesselmann Collection

In effervescence of the shared optimistic spirit between Coach and the American pop artist, the capsule collection honours the distinctive slick, and colourful works of Tom Wesselmann. Coach combines traditional features with modern design elements, featuring Wesselmann’s quintessential artworks on signatures like the Rogue, Duffel bags, and shearling jackets. Recognised as a “pleasure painter”, the maison mirrors the theme of pleasure in Wesselmann’s works, featuring pop graphic motifs — including lips, flowers, and still-life oversized objects. The bags are rendered in Coach’s signature jacquard and heritage Glovetanned leather style with printings and sequin embellishments, a streamlined signature reimagined for today.

The eclectic collection under the patronage of Creative Director Stuart Vevers works closely with the late artists’ family and estate. “Like my collections for Coach, Tom Wesselmann’s work is inspired by the extraordinary found in the every day and the universal references that bring us together,” said Vevers. In an embodiment of the Wesselmann world, the campaign film features a poem written and read by Jamal, inspired by the pop artist. A connected digital experience is also brought to life to enable users to explore and read into the collection, social filters are introduced to play with Wesselmann’s motifs and a series of “EduToks” on Tiktok that offers a glimpse into his life and works.
