Onitsuka Tiger Finally Opens its Doors in Barcelona

Onitsuka Tiger has officially made its mark on Barcelona, unveiling its first-ever Spanish flagship store on the prestigious Passeig de Gràcia. A fusion of Tokyo minimalism and European elegance, the space is more than just a retail destination—it’s a statement of modern luxury with an edge.

In a L’Officiel exclusive, we joined Onitsuka Tiger in opening its doors to Barcelona, experiencing first-hand the energy, craftsmanship, and vision behind this milestone. Spanning across two meticulously designed levels, the flagship is a masterclass in spatial storytelling. The ground floor is sleek and contemporary, bathed in Onitsuka Tiger’s signature yellow, with high-gloss surfaces and curated displays. Descend to the basement level, and you step into an archival gallery showcasing the brand’s most iconic footwear designs—celebrating its legacy and innovation.

Conceptualized by STUDIODINICATALDI, the store’s design pays homage to its Japanese minimalist roots and Barcelona’s architectural charm, creating an immersive space that feels modern and timeless. 

To commemorate the grand opening, Onitsuka Tiger introduced an exclusive Barcelona edition of the iconic MEXICO 66 from the Made in Japan Collection. The sneaker features a striking gradient pink and yellow colorway inspired by Barcelona’s sunset hues and vibrant energy.

The festivities continued with an exclusive candlelit dinner at the Hospital de Sant Pau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site designed by the legendary Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Under the breathtaking Catalan modernist architecture, guests were welcomed by Ryoji Shoda, Head of Onitsuka Tiger, who spoke about the brand’s evolution as it cements itself as a Japanese luxury house with a global outlook. The evening’s gastronomic journey was curated by Hermanos Torres, the renowned Spanish culinary duo, who served a menu that celebrated the richness of Spanish cuisine.
