Cover Story: Baifern is Going Full Speed in Life
Thai actress Baifern has reached a point in her life where she is “very satisfied with the past and the present”. Yet she’s not resting on her laurels — the star is “ready to continue to fight” and show her work to audiences.
Last year in February, when we got up close and personal with Baifern for our digital cover story, she told L’OFFICIEL SINGAPORE, “I’m hoping to travel more and work more.” Well, it appears that the wishes of the Thai actress have been fulfilled. Two months ago, the star zipped into Singapore for a beauty pop up event at Paragon Shopping Centre. Soon after, Baifern was whisked off to Europe, first hitting the ONITSUKA TIGER Spring/Summer 2025 show in Milan before blazing through Paris Fashion Week. Upon her return to Bangkok, she celebrated her birthday in style, before quickly resuming her professional duties, reuniting with us on the set of our October issue cover shoot — our fourth encounter in just two months.
Hi Baifern. Happy belated birthday! How was the celebration?
Thank you for the wishes. First of all, I have to say that every year, I am surprised by my manager and friends. My manager told me that there was a jewellery photoshoot at a studio and I didn't suspect anything. When I arrived, I found that all my friends were there and held a big birthday party for me. Everyone enjoyed themselves and had fun.
You recently attended ONITSUKA TIGER’s Spring/Summer 2025 show in Milan. It wasn't your first time at Milan Fashion Week with the brand. What did you find special this time?
This is the second time that I went to see an ONITSUKA TIGER show. This time, I was really impressed and liked everything about the show. Actually, I was very impressed the day before the show too. There was a dress fitting, and I was touched when I met the designer and the team. Everyone helped by sharing and giving opinions on how to choose and match the look that I wore to the event. It felt very open and friendly.
For the show, it was fun and cool according to the brand's style, but the difference this time is the collection is more formal. And the combination of lace fabric creates a sexier look for this show. Each time I watch the brand’s show, it gives me a new experience.
Besides your work commitments, is there anything you love to do while in Milan?
As I didn’t have that much time on this trip, I just wanted to hang out and eat. My favorite thing on the menu has to be pasta — I liked every sauce that I tried because they are the “original taste” of Italy, so each time I go to Milan, I need to have pasta.
You're in the series The Lady and Her Lovers, which is currently airing. What did you find most challenging about working on this project?
The challenge is that we must not be prejudiced against the character, Thong. Most people might see her as a beautiful and rich person. In this role, I have to overcome the judgment of people who see Thong as a bad woman, yet we have to present this character in a way that is as sincere as possible, making viewers see all the obstacles that she has to face. That is my goal and the reason why I chose to play Thong in this series.
One of your upcoming dramas is the series Thicha. Is there anything you can share with us about the series and your role?
It is a series that essentially talks about revenge, the social hierarchy, and the inequality in every society in the world. The story is about the way of life of second-class citizens. It is also related to race, skin tone and social inequality. The script is different from The Lady and Her Lovers. It presents characters that don’t have many emotional expressions. But inside my character’s heart is vengeance and sadness. In the drama series, there is a mix of the thriller genre. There are murder scenes and horror scenes as well. As for the preparation work, there were workshop sessions where I had to live with the character's sinking emotions and sadness. Bringing vengeance to the show is really heavy, which sometimes can be very stressful, so I had to have a psychologist help me out in getting back to myself.
People who watch the series will get perceptions on society. Whether it is inequality or fighting for a better life, the series should make you understand more about today's society. And giving other people chances, empathy and kindness.
You were in Singapore quite recently for an event, and we got to catch up with you. We heard that you're a fan of the food in Singapore. What are some of your favourite Singaporean dishes?
Singapore’s chilli crab is quite similar to stir fried crab with curry powder in Thailand, but with a different note of spiciness. It blends well with the crab meat. Then there are mantou and ice plant, a vegetable with leaves that look like they have ice on them. Chilli crab is the dish that I will not miss every time I visit Singapore.
We had the chance to have a lovely chat early last year when you were in Singapore with ONITSUKA TIGER. You told us that in 2023, you were busy with the building of your house, and hoped to work and travel more. Now, one and half years later, are you pleased with the progress you've made?
I am now very satisfied with the past and the present. I get to do what I love, and I have good friendships, and colleagues and people around me who support me. There are good opportunities to work regularly, and I would like to thank myself and everyone who brought me to this point. I am ready to continue to fight and show my work to the audience. As for the house, now, everything is perfect according to the construction plan. I am very lucky to be able to live in the house of my dreams. It is also my pride because I am the one who bought it. I consider this a very happy time in life.
You’ve been travelling a lot recently. Do you have any secrets when it comes to maintaining your health and beauty while flying back to back?
The main thing is to focus on rest and hydration because I have dry skin. While on the plane, the air is quite dry, so I focus on drinking a lot of water to moisturise the body from the inside. I would use moisturising skincare as well as a face mask to help, because sometimes, when you get off the plane, you have to start working immediately.
The end of the year is arriving soon. Is there anything you would like to accomplish before 2024 comes to a close?
Now, as I said, everything in my life has reached a point that I am satisfied with. There is still some work left for the rest of this year, and after that, I will prepare for a New Year's trip with friends.
What are your aspirations for the future, both professionally and personally?
For me, I see that the people who are related to me, whether it is my family, friends or colleagues who have lived with me, are very important. Because inspiration, advice and experiences all come from the people around me and they are all great. I want everyone to be happy as well. As for the future, right now, things are good and I hope it will continue to be like this.
