No Holds Barred: Saint Laurent X Everlast
We are almost three weeks into the new year, which is usually the time when good intentions start to fade and old habits return in force, especially when it comes to exercise. So if you need a little more motivation to stick with your fitness resolutions, fear not, Saint Laurent has got your back. The fashion house has joined forces with renowned boxing brand Everlast to create a capsule of training gear and apparel, the latest drop from the maison’s experimental venture Rive Droite.
Creative director Anthony Vaccarello was inspired by the black and white portraits of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat sparring playfully in vintage Everlast gloves and shorts, captured by Michael Halsband in the mid-1980s. Vaccarello re-appropriates and re-edits the images to turn the two icons into impromptu models for the new collection, which is imagined entirely in monochrome as a nod to the photo series as well as one of the classic design codes of the French house.
The assortment of retro-style items includes a pair of high-grade leather boxing gloves, a functional heavy punching bag, a padded buffalo leather headguard, nylon handwraps in different colours, and a pair of satin shorts with a four-inch elasticised waistband for optimal fit. Every piece in the capsule is emblazoned with a co-branded patch featuring the distinctive logos of both brands. If this collection doesn’t get you in the mood to work out, we don’t know what else will.
The Saint Laurent x Everlast collection will be available exclusively at the Saint Laurent Rive Droite boutiques
