Who she is: Born and raised in Seoul, Choi first rose to fame in 2012 when she competed and subsequently won Korea’s Next Top Model. She may look like one of the cool cats of the modelling industry but don’t let her edgy rock-chick style fool you: the 24 year-old is a self-confessed geek who can't get enough of comics, RPG games, and binge-watching her favorite anime.
Career highlights: Choi's career trajectory was hardly straightforward. She initally tagged along to agency castings with a friend for moral support but ended up getting signed on on the spot. Since making her debut at Louis Vuitton’s Resort show in 2014, the Korean beauty has quietly but determinedly been making a name for herself in the industry – whether it’s appearing in campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Coach, and Dolce & Gabbana, editorial spreads for Vogue Italia and W or on the runway (most recently at the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2018 show in Kyoto).
Why she’s one to watch: Having worked with the likes of Steven Meisel, Juergen Teller, Mario Sorrenti, and David Sims, the powers that be have already deemed Choi as the next big thing – so it's only inevitable that we'll be seeing more of her in seasons to come. In a Vogue interview, Choi said: "It’s such an awesome feeling to have all these designers and casting directors believe in me. Sometimes, I can’t believe it myself.”
