The self-proclaimed ‘king of camp’, Jeremy Scott can always be counted on to bring life to the party. Adding a healthy dose of sass to the usually serious business of fashion, he brings his signature tongue-in-cheek style to Moschino’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection. The collection takes its cue from classic television game shows like The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Deal Or No Deal, juiced up with just the right touch of ‘extra’ we’ve come to expect from Moschino.
An ode to unchecked consumerism and society’s obsession with wealth, the looks feature gold lamé dresses paired with blinged-out accessories and shoes, along with all sorts of money-related motifs, from a mosaic of casino machines to dollar signs and million-dollar bill prints.
The collection gives a nod to vintage advertising. Dresses and tracksuits are embellished with household products popular during those decades of primetime television, including Crunch cereal, laundry detergent, and soft drinks. There’s even an over-the-top ‘TV dinner’ cape, complete with carrots, peas, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Accessorise with bags shaped like a cash register, hairdryer, spray cleaner, or Moschino brand toothpaste.
High-octane glamour is one of the hallmarks of Moschino design, courtesy of Scott. This season’s glittering golden gowns and skin-baring bright dresses certainly don’t disappoint, and wouldn’t look out of place on the original Barker’s Beauties. Pair them with a bouffant hairdo for maximum impact, if you dare.
The Fall/Winter 2019 line also showcases a capsule collection created in collaboration with toy brand Good Luck Trolls. The button-nosed dolls with their distinctive quiffs work their way onto coats, hoodies, t-shirts, bags, and phone cases. There’s no better way to relive your childhood!
