Miuccia Prada Will Be Honoured at the Fashion Awards 2018
Joining the ranks of Anna Wintour and Donatella Versace, Miuccia Prada will be honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award at this year's Fashion Awards, organized by the British Fashion Council. The Italian designer will receive her accolade at the award ceremony on 10 December, held in partnership with Swarovski at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The award serves to recognize Miuccia's remarkable contributions to the fashion industry as Creative Director of both Prada and Miu Miu. Over the last four decades, the designer has consistently combined highly conceptual ideas with covetable products through her collections — no mean feat, and one that transformed her family's small leather goods house into a fashion powerhouse brand.
Miuccia has also proven time and time again to be at the forefront of innovation in fashion by predicting trends way before her peers (luxury athleisure? Prada did it first). Then there are those moments when she turned the fashion industry on its head, most notably by introducing nylon as a symbol of luxury. It's little wonder why Miuccia is one of only two living fashion designers to have have been honoured at the Met Gala.
Aside from receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award, Miuccia is also in the running for Accessories Designer of the Year alongside Gucci's Alessandro Michele and Maria Grazia Chiuri of Dior. Her eponymous label, Prada, is also up for Brand of the Year. See the full list of nominees across the different categories at the inaugural awards here.
