Bottega Veneta Has a New Creative Director: Meet Louise Trotter

Bottega Veneta has a new creative director. Louise Trotter was appointed to the lead position on Thursday, replacing Matthieu Blazy (who was confirmed to be joining Chanel as creative director on the same day).

Trotter will begin her role at the Italian luxury house early 2025. “I am deeply honored to join Bottega Veneta as creative director. The House’s storied legacy of artistry and innovation is truly inspiring, and I am excited to contribute to its future and celebrate its timeless vision," she said in a press release. 

Trotter currently serves as creative director of the French brand Carven, where she has been for just under two years, putting the brand back on the radar. She was the former creative director at British labels Lacoste and Joseph. At Bottega, she will be the only female creative director at Kering, the luxury group owning brands from Yves Saint Laurent to Balenciaga.

"Her aesthetic seamlessly combines exquisite design with sublime craft and her commitment to cultural advocacy aligns beautifully with our brand vision. Through her sophisticated lens, Bottega Veneta will continue to celebrate its heritage while preserving modern relevance," Bottega Veneta CEO Leo Rongone said in the press release.

Blazy designed at Bottega Veneta, helping boost the brand's accessories to a new level of popularity, with the help of celebrity campaigns featuring favorites like A$AP Rocky and Kendall Jenner. 

Bottega Veneta is the latest fashion house to announce a changing of the guards as it relates to creative directors. This announcement comes on the heels of John Galliano's departure from Maison Margiela and Julian Klausner's appointment at Dries Van Noten following the founder's leave. Seats have yet to be filled at Celine to Fendi, offering the possibility to welcome a new guard of younger designers at the helm of luxury fashion.
