Bottega Veneta’s latest collection pays tribute to Detroit
Bottega Veneta’s Salon 03 show is a perfect example of how to honour a city’s revolutionary history and its people.
Set in Detroit’s Michigan Theatre, Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director Daniel Lee presented Salon 03 Detroit: a show reflective of his infatuation with the city and its people. The grand venue — which used to be a vibrant theatre and was then converted to a three-level parking space in the ‘70s — was attended by the likes of Slowthai to Mary J. Blige.
Models walking for Salon 03 were seen in a fusion of colours, most notably Bottega Veneta’s florid, intense green. As part of the modern ethos of sustainable fashion, the silhouettes were created with bio-based rubber beads, and fabrics like recycled nylon and certified organic cotton.
For this season in particular, metal was the star. The spirit of industry and revolution were manifesting themselves with the mechanical-inspired metal pieces. With the signature hoop earrings and oversized parkas woven with metallic yarn, this show was reminiscent of Bottega Veneta’s unparalleled individualism.
