How To Style Animal Prints This Fall
Animal prints are wildly trending this Fall 2019, and from the looks of the Resort 2020 collections, we're certain it'll be trending for some time to come.
The animal print trend has had its roots as far back in the past as the 18th century. It was thought to give those who wear it a sense of power, often associated with wealth and luxury. It saw a rise in popularity back in the US in the 60s, and rose to become more of a staple print in the 70s and 80s, widely seen on dresses, leggings and accessories.
These prints have been in trend for quite a while now, and from the runways of Gucci, Saint Laurent, Paco Rabanne, and many more, we can see that Fall 2019's popular animal prints include zebra stripes, snakeskin, tiger stripes, and leopard spots. Here's how to wear these prints in style this cosy season:
1. Layer Them!
First up, a popular styling method for this season's animal prints is to simply layer them one on top of another. For instance, you could match snakeskin boots with a leopard print top, and so on - don't be afraid to mix it up with different layers of your favourite animal prints! Check out how Paco Rabanne and Versace layered their pieces to form unique and stylish combinations perfect for a cold day or a party above.
You can also layer your animal prints with your other favourite patterns. Many of our favourite fashion houses mixed in animal prints with other textures and designs, like floral prints, plaid, and an array of other patterns on their Fall 2019 runways.
2. Wear Them Full-On
Another way to rock the animal prints trend is to simply wear it full-on - after all, the trend has been associated with a feeling and aura of boldness and fierceness, and in such a case, rocking it as a statement piece from head-to-toe is a pretty wild idea.
3. Wear Them In Fun and Vivid Colours
Wearing bold and vibrant colours has definitely been a 2019 trend we can't get enough of. Fashion houses have also switched up the usual natural animal print colours (e.g. the classic black and white for zebra prints), presenting to us an array of these prints in bold and striking colours - from deep pinks to bright yellows, greens to blues.
4. Tortoiseshell Accessories
Last but definitely not least, top off your exotic looks with some animal print accessories. The animal print that's seen a sharp and increasing surge of Pinterest searches this year is undoubtedly the tortoiseshell. Often found on jewellery - in the form of earrings, pendants, bracelets, and more, it also makes for a popular bag and sunglass design!
