The global pandemic has affected everyone across various industries, with social distancing and staying at home the new norm.

We speak to Wes Gordon, the creative director of Carolina Herrera, on what his daily schedule has been like since quarantine. He lives and works from his home in Thistletdown Farm, Roxbury, Conneticut, with his partner, Paul Arnhold, and dog, Birdie, alongside their various farm animals.

On Maintaining Constancy
“I have tried to recreate my studio in Carolina Herrera with murals and sketches, but nothing compares to being in the offices and working with the team in person. I miss the personal interaction but we get the most out of the calls via Zoom.”

Staying in Touch
“I like to spend the extra time I have now calling the family and friends that I may have lost contact and getting to know how they are doing. Being connected is more important than ever now. ”

Downtime
“I love spending time with my dog Birdie. This situation has also affected our routine together.”

Readings
“The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) offers its catalogs online for free. It is a treasure trove of information collected over the years which, both before and now, continue to inspire me. ”

TV Shows
"Some of my current favorites are Zero Zero Zero , Hunters and The Paper House ."

The American designer has been widely applauded for reworking Carolina Herrera's signature elements in a playful, modern way.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins, he interned at Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford before moving to New York to set up his namesake label in 2009. He shuttered his own line in 2017 to consult for New York based designer Carolina Herrera instead, with his first collection as creative director at New York Fashion Week F/W 2018.
