Gucci Launches A Limited Edition Eyewear Collection Exclusive To Gucci.com
This innovative idea stems from Gucci’s philosophy that everyone should be able to express their own unique character and personality through their clothing and accessories, and is typical of the luxury house's unorthodox approach, adding an unexpected element of playfulness.
Three limited edition styles are available, and each comes in two different colourways. The capsule is truly exclusive, with only 100 pairs of each version being made.
Two of the frames are more conventionally feminine in design, while the third is more masculine, although in reality the collection is intended to have a gender-neutral appeal, in keeping with Gucci’s aesthetic. All have temples that are made to resemble gold chains, to which the actual chain link "earrings" are affixed.
Options include an oversized butterfly frame in Endura Gold with solid brown lenses and pink mother-of-pearl earrings or solid yellow lenses and black earrings, as well as a thick-rimmed square frame in black or zebra-print acetate with marbled or zebra-print mother-of-pearl earrings, respectively. There's also an aviator style in variations of black acetate and gold or tortoiseshell acetate and gold. The earrings are either shaped like the distinctive interlocking G house logo, or emblazoned with the motif in gold.
The collection has its own dedicated packaging: a pink and red velvet case matched with a red carry pouch. A label in every case specifies that these sunglasses are a limited edition created exclusively for gucci.com.
To accompany the new capsule, Gucci has shot a campaign set in a sunlit swimming pool and on the beach. The models display their carefree, uninhibited attitude by jumping into the water fully clothed. Picture on their own or in pairs, often blowing pink gum bubbles, Gucci’s diverse cast of male and female characters are clearly enjoying the free-swinging earrings attached to their sunglasses.
The capsule is now available exclusively on gucci.com worldwide
