Gucci Fall/Winter 2017-2018
The curtains went up at Milan Fashion Week with a humdinger of an opening show: Gucci Fall/Winter 2017-2018. This season, Alessandro Michele staged his first combined men's and women's collection around the central theme "The Alchemist's Garden: An Anti-Modern Laboratory".
Set against the dramatic backdrop of a giant pyramid with a plexiglass tubular runway, the 119-piece collection presented was a rich, eclectic riot of flora/fauna-themed appliqués, verdant colours, and exquisite detailing: from bedazzled balaclavas to romantic ruffled gowns, embroidered capes, logo T-shirts, and parasols scrawled with artist Coco Capitán’s quotes. Combined with the larger-than-life accessories, this was one show that'll have everyone talking about for seasons to come.
