Celebrating nature in a meaningful way was the starting point for Maria Grazia Chiuri in designing Dior's Spring/Summer 2020 collection. Inspired by Christian Dior's sister Catherine, who was an avid gardener, and motivated by the current challenges of climate change, the show was Dior's take on an "inclusive garden", awash with botanical prints and natural imagery.

A temporary grove of 164 trees set the stage for the show, developed in collaboration with Coloco, a Paris-based environmental design collective. In line with the collection's focus on sustainability, the trees will be replanted elsewhere as part of community garden projects. Dior also worked closely with philosopher Emanuele Coccia, author of the book 'The Life of Plants, a Metaphysics of Mixture', in order to better understand the fundamental relationship between humankind and nature.
